Our Story
FROM PITCH TO ORCHARD
After years of longing, founder Jake Polledri seized the unexpected opportunity during the 2020 pandemic to explore his other love, cider!
After collaborating with local producers and taste testing, he successfully created his first batch of cider, which was bottled in October 2020.
The buzz
The success of our product was beyond our expectations, with our stock completely sold out within a couple months. We are so grateful to each person that supported us.
The buzz generated by social media and media coverage in renowned publications like The Times and Telegraph played a key role in getting our name out there.
The mindset
On 14th November 2020, Jake experienced a devasting knee injury while playing rugby for Italy, which left him partially paralyzed. Being out of “the game” can lead many players to go into a dark place, especially when the recovery is uncertain or predicted to be years away.
The Gloucester Rugby fans and supporters of Just Pressed Cider were invaluable. The unwavering encouragement fuelled Jake’s mindset and focus.
We're more than just a cider
Our motto “More than just a cider” was born out of the tragic loss of Jake’s brother Sam Polledri.
We are committed to raising monies to support the Award Winning, The Sam Polledri Foundation, that have set out to saving lives. Their mission is to ensure an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is within a 3-minute walk of each one of us.
We are committed to raising monies for the Foundation by proudly introducing ‘Fratello’, meaning ‘Brother’ in Italian. We donate a percentage of each drink sold to the Foundation. A drink that is more than just a cider.
Giving somebody a second chance at life is a priceless gift that the Foundation deliver on and have saved lives already.
The Shop & Storage
From the family garage, to a friend’s farm, to our very own Unit in Longhope.
Our Unit serves so much more than storage now. Not only do we process and can our cider on site, but we can now welcome you into our shop. Our shop not only sells our product but also locally sourced coffee, beer, snacks & more.
